Castle exhibitions are generally open Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00 to 17:00; selected exhibitions have free limited admission on Mondays, 10:00 to 16:00. For the usual 17:00 closing: Castle combined 15:00, First Floor 16:00, Second Floor 16:10, Crown Treasury 16:20 and Armoury 16:30. Underground: Lost Wawel 16:00, St Gereon's Church and Lapidarium 16:30; Monday and seasonal routes have different cutoffs. Official source

Which Wawel Castle exhibitions should I choose?

Each route is ticketed separately. The First Floor and the Second Floor cost 57 zł each, and the Castle Underground, the Crown Treasury and the Armoury 47 zł each. The 95 zł combined ticket covers both floors with an audio guide, and Wawel for Enthusiasts (199 zł) covers all open exhibitions.

Online tickets go on sale one month ahead, and daily numbers are limited.

Is Wawel Castle free on Mondays?

Selected exhibitions are free on Mondays for individual visitors, with a limited number of free passes collected on site. The free routes change by season: the Castle Underground and Between the Walls until the end of September 2026, then the Second Floor and the Crown Treasury from October to December.

Collect Monday passes early: numbers are limited and groups are not eligible.

Does a Wawel Castle ticket include the cathedral?

No. Wawel Cathedral is run separately from the castle, and its own museum ticket covers the Royal Tombs and the Sigismund Bell. Most partner tours listed here include the cathedral as well as one castle exhibition.
