What if Colosseum tickets are sold out?
If the ticket you want is unavailable, check whether only that specific ticket type or time slot is sold out. Standard admission, Arena access, Underground access, and partner tours can have different availability.
See our full guide to what to do when Colosseum tickets are sold out, including same-day options, alternative ticket types, and what to do if nothing suitable is available.
Can I get last-minute Colosseum underground tickets?
Official Full Experience Underground and Arena tickets go on sale online 30 days before the visit date, and places are limited. For a visit in the next few days, compare the underground tours on this page and check your date on each seller's page: places are only confirmed when you book.
Check the cancellation terms before you pay: some underground tours cannot be refunded.
Parco archeologico del Colosseo: Full Experience Underground and ArenaWhat will Colosseum tickets cost for a family of four?
With official tickets, each adult pays €18 for the standard ticket or €24 for the Full Experience Arena or Underground and Arena ticket. Under-18s go free, but they still need a booked ticket for these ticket types.
Partner tours charge per person and set their own child prices, so check the total for your group on the seller's page before you pay.
For a family on a budget, official tickets are the cheapest way in; a tour mainly adds a guide and, on some tours, the arena floor or the underground.
Parco archeologico del Colosseo: tickets and free admissionArena floor or underground: which Colosseum ticket do I need?
The arena floor is the rebuilt stage where gladiators fought, with a view across the whole amphitheatre. The underground is the network of passages beneath it, visited in limited groups. The standard €18 ticket includes neither; the official Full Experience tickets and the partner tours marked Arena floor or Underground add them.
Officially both Full Experience tickets cost €24, while partner underground tours cost far more than arena tours, so try the official Underground and Arena ticket first if you want the underground.
Parco archeologico del Colosseo: opening times and ticketsIs the Colosseum suitable for young children and pushchairs?
The main entrances are step-free and a lift links the Colosseum's first and second levels, but the Palatine has steep stretches and uneven paving. Tours differ: some allow prams and strollers, while the Gladiator's Gate tour says it is not suitable for them, so read the Good for and Not ideal for notes under each tour.
With a pushchair, choose a tour whose seller allows prams, or visit independently with the official ticket and plan a shorter Palatine route.
Parco archeologico del Colosseo: the Park for allShould you buy Colosseum tickets from the official site or a partner?
Start with the official Colosseum adult ticket price, then compare partner products only when they add something useful such as a guided tour, arena access, underground access, small-group format, private guide, or better date availability.
Do not compare a private guided Colosseum tour directly with basic official admission unless the access areas and services are genuinely equivalent.

Check whether the product includes the Colosseum only, the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, the arena floor, the underground, a guide, a host, or a private service. These are different ticket types and prices.
The cheapest product is not always the right one if your priority is arena floor, underground, or a guided Ancient Rome route.
